What Lokalish means

The name Lokalish is inspired by the Papiamentu word ‘lokal‘.
In Curaçao, where Papiamentu is the native language of the island, ‘lokal‘ means more than simply local. It speaks to belonging, understanding a place from within, and feeling connected to its people, culture, and everyday rhythm.
But Curaçao itself is much more than one single identity.
It is an island shaped by influences from around the world: Caribbean, Dutch, Latin American, African, European, and international communities that together create the vibrant character of the island today.
That is why we are called Lokalish.
Not purely local. Not entirely global.
But somewhere beautifully in between.

The Heart
Behind Lokalish
Lokalish was founded by Tirzah Statia, born and raised in Curaçao and passionate about sharing the island in a way that feels meaningful, authentic, and deeply personal.
As an official Island Ambassador through the Curaçao Tourist Board, Tirzah has spent years welcoming visitors, curating experiences, and designing personalized itineraries for travelers from around the world.
Beyond planning, Tirzah personally guides guests across the island under a government-issued dispensation for private tourism transport, keeping every detail in trusted hands.
Her approach is simple.
Listen first. Design second.
